Vision for the future
UNGER Kabelkonfektion manufactures its products in the Erzgebirge region, in what was once one of Europe's most important mining regions. Ever since the days of mining engineer von Carlowitz, we have been aware that resources are finite. With this in mind, we do not see sustainability as an obligation. It is part of our strategy for the future. Only those who think long-term can secure their livelihoods and differentiate themselves positively. In the context of the market environment, this is already being rewarded by our customers today.
Foresight is the guiding principle.
It is essential to combine the economic performance with an ecological necessity. In 2023 and 2024, we completed our first two photovoltaic (PV) projects, installing and commissioning a PV system with an installed module capacity of 264 kWp at our Cranzahl plant and one with an installed module capacity of 338 kWp at our Chemnitz production factory. Since then, a significant percentage of our electricity consumption at both plants has been generated in an environmentally friendly way by ourselves. Furthermore, we are currently pursuing additional large-scale PV projects combined with storage solutions at our sites, and especially at our Sehma Headquarter and production area, to cover an even higher percentage of our own consumption of electricity with affordable, self-generated electricity. This not only significantly reduces the CO2 footprint of our plants but also demonstrates our commitment to integrating environmentally friendly technologies to maintain our competitiveness. Ultimately, as a medium-sized company, we see ourselves as having a responsibility – for present and future generations.
